The top Men’s National Team players, collegiate players and up-and-coming stars of water polo will be at the University of California-San Diego on May 19 and 20 for the annual Fisher Cup, named for the late Donald Fisher, founder of The Gap, and USA Water Polo benefactor. National Team athletes return to their clubs including the likes of the New York Athletic Club, The Olympic Club and the Newport Water Polo Foundation. Tickets for this event will be available on-site.
Current Del Mar Water Polo Club player Ryder Roberts will be participating on the National Junior Team. In addition, several former DMWPC players will be participating on their collegiate teams.

USA Water Polo Men’s National Team To Host Pre-Olympic Competitions Throughout May In Southern California; Tickets On-Sale!
Huntington Beach, Calif. – April 17, 2012— May will be a busy month for the USA Men’s Senior National Team, and an exciting time for water polo fans, with over ten competition dates scheduled for Southern California. Team USA will welcome two of the top teams in the world when Hungary and Croatia visit for an exhibition series, including a live televised match on the NBC Sports Network. The squad will also host Canada and Brazil as part of the FINA World League Prelims, and athletes will return to their club teams for a weekend of games at the 2012 Fisher Cup. All the action begins with the FINA World League Prelims, set for May 10-13 at Foothill High School in Tustin, California. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
From there, the action heads south, to the University of California-San Diego on May 19 and 20 for the annual Fisher Cup, named for the late Donald Fisher, founder of The Gap, and USA Water Polo benefactor. National Team athletes return to their clubs including the likes of the New York Athletic Club, The Olympic Club and the Newport Water Polo Foundation. Tickets for this event will be available on-site.
Team USA has saved the best for last when Hungary and Croatia visit for common training and an exhibition series in late May and early June. Team USA will host Croatia on May 26 at 6pm at Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach, CA and then return the following day on May 27 to take on Hungary, in a rematch of the 2008 Olympic Games Gold Medal final, at 12pm. The May 27 match will also be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network. The action at Newport Harbor High School will conclude on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, when Hungary and Croatia meet at 5pm. Tickets for all USA matches at Newport Harbor High School cost $40 for adults and $30 for children and seniors. Pre-sale tickets are available at a reduced price, by clicking here.
The exhibition series closes out with a change of venues. Team USA will battle Hungary once more on May 31 at 7pm at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, CA. The United States then closes out competition with a match against Croatia on June 1 at 7pm at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, CA. **NEW**Important Age Verification For Junior Olympics/JO Qualifications
Birth Date Verification
USA Water Polo is implementing a Birthdate Age Verification requirement for all athletes participating in National and Championship Events. This will be a ONE-TIME charge of $5.00 paid online through TC logiQ’s secure website. Gold Athletes members MUST complete the verification process prior to participating in any National Championship Event–including the Pacific Southwest Junior Olympic Qualification Tournament May 29-June 3. The process can take up to 7 days–Please begin this process now. Clubs will not be able to verify and submit rosters until all athletes birth dates have been successfully verified.
Instructions
1. Click here to sign into your USA Water Polo membership account
2. Scroll down your account homepage and click on the blue “Birth Date Verification” button
3. You will be redirected to the TC logiQ secure web site (you may also click directly on the TC logiQ link)
4. Follow the directions provided on screen to validate your USAWP membership.
5. Once your membership has been validated, proceed as a “new applicant” to create an account with TC logiQ
6. Please fill out the required information for the member and pay the $5.00 fee.
7. You will receive an email when your birth date has successfully been verified – may take up to 7 days to process. The verification will also show in your USAWP member account.

You will have to complete the verification process for EACH child. A unique username is required, so we recommend the use of your USA Water Polo member ID as the username so you can create an account for each child. Keep in mind this process only needs to be completed once, you should not need to login again.
Del Mar Boys Excel At ODP Tryouts
The following Del Mar Water Polo players made a name for themselves at the Pacific ODP Regional Championships, March 2-4 in Clovis, California:
Ryder Roberts made the top 14 athletes born in 1993 or later and will compete to travel with National Junior Team this summer.
Kevin Levine, Bryce Hoerman and Jordan Colina were selected to go to the 12th Grade and Under National Team Selection Camp.
Austin Rone and Joe Cleary were selected to go to the 10th Grade and Under National Team Selection Camp.
Dakota Salas Rogalski was selected to go to the 8th Grade and Under National Team Selection Camp.
In addition, Bryce Hoerman was selected as the top player in the entire 10th Grade Pacific ODP Regional Championships and Coach Jake Hodgens was selected as the top coach for the entire 8th Grade Pacific ODP Regional Championships.

Spring Session Begins February 27th–Sign Up Now!!
The Spring Session of Del Mar Water Polo begins February 27. All age-groups will have a player/parent meeting the first practice. Be at the pool 10 minutes before the practice begins. You must be registered, have a current USWP membership and turn in your medical release form in order to practice.
There are no practices the week of April 9-13.

Del Mar Wins Ironman Games
The Del Mar boys water polo team picked up victories this weekend in the Ironman League. 16 & Over defeated CDM 14-10, while the 16 & Under’s beat CDM 13-1. The 14 & Under boys defeated Long Beach Shore 16-8 and the 12 & Under boys defeated Long Beach Shore 13-12 at the buzzer!

Individual Tournament Accounts
Individual Tournament Accounts—any player who competes in a tournament, league or scrimmage will be charged an Individual Tournament Account fee to cover costs of the event. Fees are charged for the tournament, regardless of how many games you attended. Fees will be charged the week following the event.
Quarterly Dues
Quarterly Dues—Del Mar Water Polo Club does not prorate dues. Dues are a fixed amount regardless of how many practices you attend per week. REFUNDS are processed only for injured players who will be out for an extended period of time.

2012 USA Water Polo Membership Information—Renewal is now available. Renew your membership before December 31st to lock-in 2011 pricing. Reminder: All athletes must be a member of USA Water Polo in order to participate in practices and in games. Proof of membership must be shown at the first practice.
Winter Session Informational Meeting for 16/18 & Under Boys
Winter Session Informational Meeting for 16/18 & Under Boys will be held on November 28 at 6:30 pm at the Cathedral Catholic pool for all athletes and parents. Brett Ormsby will introduce the coaches, talk about the goals of the club and answer any questions. Apparel will be sold on the pool deck from November 28-December 1.

Del Mar Water Polo – Kotor, Montenegro (July 14, 2011)
Del Mar Water Polo Club is now back online! I apologize for the delay in updates, but our wireless signal in Montenegro was less than ideal and precluded us from sending out any news. We have corrected the problem and should be good going forward. The boys just finished their second full day in Montenegro and have been kept quite busy training twice a day. One of the more prominent local water polo club teams, VK Primorac, has been kind enough to host the boys during their time here in Kotor, Montenegro. The boys have held their own, for the most part, while scrimmaging the various age groups from VK Primorac. In between training, the team is getting plenty of rest at the Hotel Perpera in Tivat, Montenegro, which is a 20 minute drive up the Adriatic coastline. We will try and keep you posted on a daily basis as best as we can. So long for now from Kotor, Montenegro.
Del Mar Water Polo Arrives in Montenegro!
The Del Mar Water Polo Club has just arrived in Montenegro! We arrived after a long day (or two) of travel and started off playing a pick-up game against a local Montenegro team in their home court in the Adriatric Sea. At one point there were 40+ random fans watching from the sidewalk as we played. The team played well but fell by several goals in the end. Nonetheless, a great opportunity to play against some great local water polo players. Congrats to the Del Mar Water Polo Club 16s Boys for winning the championship game of the 2011 Left Coast Water Polo Tournament (also known as the Commerce Water Polo Tournament) this past weekend. The 16s boys went undefeated through the tournament before soundly beating the 16s boys from San Diego Shores in the championship game. Lefty Austin Rone was chosen as the most valuable field player and Joe Cleary was selected as the most valuable goalie. That is two championship trophies the Del Mar Water Polo 16s boys have brought home in just the last month of play. Once again, congratulations to the boys and head coach Brett Ormsby for a job well done!

Del Mar Water Polo Club’s founder and head coach, Brett Ormsby, was selected as the Coach of the Year for the 2011 Ironman Water Polo League. Coach Ormsby headed the only San Diego water polo club team invited to participate in this grueling and competitive water polo league, which included some of the best water polo clubs in California. Coach Ormsby’s 16 & under boys team from Del Mar Water Polo Club performed amazingly throughout the season, culminating in their championship victory over Regency Water Polo Club. For his efforts and accomplishments, Coach Ormsby was deservedly awarded the Coach of the Year honor following the championship game this afternoon. Congratulations Brett!
